Book Drug

I love the feeling of starting and finishing an entire book in one day. The author having the ability to pull you into this amazing world so wonderfully that you just cannot put the book down. The feeling that if you stop reading now, you will go crazy without finding out what is going to happen next. The heart racing, pulse throbbing, mind blowing revelations of each chapter, with each and every word you devour.

When it comes down to it, there is no other feeling that matches. For a true book nerd, the thrill of a book is an addiction that you cannot fight against.

My book drug from this week was-
I literally started and finished the entire book in one day...Sadly it was not in one sitting thanks to having to go to this thing called work. And the whole time I was at work, I found myself drifting off and counting down each agonizing moment until I could return to the world of Richelle Mead

If you have never read the amazing books from Richelle Mead, I highly recommend them. Anything she writes turns to gold. Amazing author and a wonderful role model.

What is your book drug of choice this week?

Currently reading

So I find myself wildly drawn to books that are retellings of epic stories. The retelling has to be original of course- in a way you would not expect but still keeps the main ideas of the original story. For instance, who doesn't love "Wicked"? A respinning of any good Disney story is normally worth it in my book. Especially when it becomes a love story against all odds.

I am currently reading the second installment to Anna Katmore's retelling of Peter Pan, titled "Pan's Revenge".

If you have not heard of it, I highly recommend. Of course that means you must start off with the first book titled "Neverland". I love these books.

Check it out on goodreads! (BTW I love that site and practically live on it.)

What are some of your favorite retellings of classics?

Reading Bug

I find myself wanting to do nothing but read....even when I am at events or friends. I bring my iPad mini with me everywhere for "just in case" purposes.

Last week it was by the pool-
Last night it was by the bonfire-
Sometimes you just cant help it. Reading must be done. It calls to you like the call of a siren. IT overcomes you with no choice but to give in.

What are some off the wall places that you have found yourself giving into the reading bug?

"Shelfie"

So I didn't get a chance to post a blog yesterday. BAD me. Especially since I told myself I was going to attempt to post once a day.

That just means I have to do a double post today. OKAY!

In book club, we discussed a "book selfie" otherwise known as a "shelfie". So today I decided to do mine! It took a couple pictures because I have so many books. And then it made me sad because I haven't had the funds to buy as many books as I used to and download them onto my iPad instead. But I vow I will own them one day! It might take awhile, but it WILL happen.

Here are my few "shelfies"

Show us your "shelfie"!!

Reading is life

Why do you enjoy reading?

I find myself getting asked this more and more lately. Random story: A guy at my work that is cool and we have become friends since I started asked to add me on Facebook. So of course I agree. And a week later he comes in commenting about how I need to be a little more rounded. And I was a little lost at first.

He explained from viewing my Facebook it seems all I do is run at the park and read. And that isn't much hobby wise. I couldn't help but laugh at this.

Reading makes me more rounded than anyone who is not a reader, I explained. If you read like I do, (religiously, more than I should), than you would understand. I get to escape every day life multiple times a day and explore things your wildest imagination could not even begin to understand. I do not only live one life, I live many. I experience more emotions within one hour of reading than I do living my life in the mundane world. Reading is a passion. And if you are addicted to it as I am, you feel like if you are doing anything other than learning whats going to happen next in the series you are devouring, you are cheating on it.

I have a phobia of running out of things to read.

He kind of laughed at me and stared. I asked if he read. He said when he finds the time and depends on if there is something he enjoys. I told him about the amazing site "Goodreads.com" and he took it down. Next time I seen him= mind blown. He could not stop talking about goodreads and how much he has found book wise. How he can't wait to just be home and read.

Welcome to the book nerd way of life my friend. Welcome to the beginning of your end. Welcome to building a list of books to read that you will never be able to finish but just knowing they are there gives you comfort and peace.

Book nerds unite.

A start to something new

I remember the days of using "Myonlinediary" or "Livejournal" as well as many other online style diaries. Where mine still exist- using them does not. Growing up we tend to crave the attention of anyone and everyone more so than when you upgrade out of adolescence.

Blogging isn't anything new. Rather its just a new name. I have been contemplating doing it for awhile now. Especially since my amazing "Live and Breathe Books" Book Club has been doing so awesome. I feel it already resembles a blog of sorts and sense the need to broaden my horizons.

So what do I want to write about? Books of course! And maybe the every day nerd loves of my life and fellow nerds. (Including comic books, movies, anime, cats, and gadgets.) But my main focus- books. Anything book related. It is my passion; my addiction; my life.

Sooooo here goes nothing =)

my book nerd problem of the day:
